What To Do About Fading Red Hair ??

I dyed my hair a darker bright red about two weeks ago, and it's already fading to a reddy pink orangey browny colour.....all in all, its not looking too nice. I want to give it red streaks or black streaks or SOMETHING to fix it. Also- I want to keep it from fading, and do something to boost the colour. I already wash it in tinted red shampoos and conditioners made for red dyed hair that I got at my salon so i dont know WHAT the problem is. Help ?

Look on the net for herbal tea hair treatment. I died my hair auburn a few years ago, and I am normally dark blonde. It started fading and I used, I think it was Chamomile tea. You boil it, of course let it cool, and then pour over your hair while in the bath, wrap in a towl and keep on for 30 minutes. It brings out the darker color. I've also heard of adding cayenne pepper to it???

You may be using too harsh of a shampoo that is lifting the color off your head and making it lighter. I know you sai dyou tried red shampoos or whatever, but you should try those glazes. It's a quick pick-me-up for your haircolor....if none of those work, go to your stylist and get highlights of the same color ....or get a lowlight with a highlight....Talk to your stylist because shes the one who did the job and she should fix it for free if the problem keeps persisting.

All reds fade the fastest. Try asking your stylist to process your color under a low heat dryer. This helps open your hair's cuticle and it will recieve the color better. Also, leave your conditioner on for 3-5 minutes to seal the cuticle after you use hot water to wash it in the shower. You can try washing only every other day, too.

It sucks but red seems to fade more then any other color. Be careful what shampoo you use even if it says color safe check the ingredients. Don't use any that contain lauryl/laureth sulfates these will fade your color faster.

Red is the hardest color to keep, well, red. Try Loreal Color Pulse, a semi-perm. mousse, or Nice-n-Easy Glaze. There is lots of other options on this site, too. They say cold water rinse %26amp; to limit the shampooing.
