I have red and hair and I hate it LOL. I want to go blonde, but every hair dye I have tried either makes my hair some kind of reddish brown or basically my own natural color...I need something that will really make my hair blonde. Not bleached blonde, though...like Kate Hudson blonde.

I would go to a hairstylist if you are going to do such a dramatic change. I only get my hair dyed at the salon because I don't want to ruin my hair. Also at the salon the dyes are higher quality.

Otherwise I would suggest L'Oreal.

for this kind of dramatic change, go to a stylist -- or you're going to end up with orange hair. It will be a two-step process. First, they'll strip all the color out of your hair, and then they'll put back in the color blonde you want.

Honestly, unless you go to a professional or get bleach... you're not going to get that blonde. Color does not lift color which means a color thats lighter than what your hair is at that point will not lighten or lift the color you're trying to change.

Is your hair naturally red or colored red? If it is colored red you need to first remove some of the red and then I would highlight the entire head with more around the face. You would be using a mild bleach for this. If you are naturally red you can use a ligh lift blonding product. Her hair is a wonderful golden blond. Warm golden blond is not the same thing as brassy. Find a good colorist and go to town.

Why would you want your IQ to drop by 10 points? LOL...as for going blonde, you would have to bleach it in order to go blonde because your hair has red pigmentation and you need to strip your hair of as pigmentation in order to go blonde no matter what the shade or you will continue to come out with colors you don't want. Find someone who has had a bit of expierence with coloring I don't recommend you do it yourself.

I have dark brown hair and at one point I was a redhead. I wanted to go blonde myself and had to get the red stripped out of my hair with bleach and then a golden blond was placed in my hair. Even after the bleaching (stripping), and after the golden blonde was in, you could still see the red on the ends. I paid ALOT of money for this at a top salon. I loved the color after the red ends were cut, but my hair suffered a great deal and turned BEIGE eventually... SO not worth it! Save your hair!
