Red hair to orange?

my natural color is dark brown, and i just dyed my hair red (dark chocolate red) but people began telling me that now, i will have to keep on coloring it... i want to go back to my natural color as soon as the red starts to fade, but if i dye it dark brown again, is it possible that it might fade too????

Exactly what "the supers" said....red molecules are larger and cant adhere to the hair as well as the smaller ones in other colors do so it fades very fast. You will be in even more luck if you used a semi permanent color type...it will fade even sooner. I might add...the more you color your hair the more it opens the cuticle layer....once the cuticle is open the shaft grabs or absorbs each coloring application quicker but also leaks or fades the color out more quickly. so think about it before you set up this cycle with more color.

You are in luck... red is the hardest color to keep. Red color pigment fade at a faster rate. Is the color you have chosen is about the same tonal level as your natural color? If this is the case, the red pigment will fade gradually leaving the natural undertones of your hair.

If it bothers you that much, seek the advice of a licensed professional stylist/colorist. They can help get you back to natural with little damage (less than you could on your own).

Best of luck!

It depends on if it was a perm or semi. Dont worry though neither is too drastic unless you have stripped out colour with bleach which you havent. You could re colour using perm colour but you need to get it closed to your nat colour. This is not a good ides as to much chemicals will dry the hair and ake it look in bad condition. Try using a quasi colour at the salon. This is a semi that lasts about 3 months and will be better for your hair.
