Red hair for chocolate skin/maniac panic?

Has anyone ever tried maniac panic haircolor? If so please tell me what you thought of it. Would you use it again? Was it damaging? did you achieve the color you set out for? How long does the color last, etc. I am thinking of dying my hair a dark red(like Keyshia Cole's in the "I Just want it to be over video"--but I for the life of me cannot seem to find the exact color) and I am a chocolate skinned woman and want something that compliments my skin tone without being too harsh on my semi-damaged hair. Any suggestions are appreciated(do not have to be maniac panic colors).

Help me out please :)

Hairstylists/cosmotologist comments even more appreciated.

The dye isn't the thing that will damage your hair... it's the bleach. Manic Panic is very easy on your hair but I'd wait a day after bleaching it to apply the dye. If you can bleach your hair light enough... it'll be close (if not right on) the color it looks like in the bottle. One thing that sucks is that it washes out after a week or so, and you have to keep applying it. I really recommend getting it professionally done if you can afford it.

I have used manic panic before and it worked fine for me, however, I have blonde hair. It stayed bright for a week and a half or two weeks then it started to fade. I then shaved my head probably after a month of having it in my hair. So, yes, it does stay in for a long time. Personally, you probably don't have the option of shaving your head if you don't like the turn out, so I would recommend paying a bit more money and having a proffesional do it like Toni %26amp; Guy or somewhere. You can always count on them to do hair coloring correct.

Get a color that close to you skin tone, then high lite it a color a few tones lighter. That always compliments everyone's skin tone.

Its will be very hard to see red in your hair without lifting the color a bit first. Manic Panic should not cause any damage.. and the colors are great, but you will probably have to lighten a bit before you put it on (this will cause some slight damage) If you have chemically straightened hair, I do not recommend doing this yourself - breakage!-

First lighten by using a 20- 40 vol (higher the bleach more lighter the hair- more intense red- I would be very careful with this part) and bleach on the section you want to see red. Follow directions carefully and wash out completely. dry, and add the manic panic. (Also, if you can find Red Lights by Redkin, it works good)

Red is one of those colors that does not stay in as long as you would have wished, so you can always touch it up with the manic panic (no need to bleach again).

A good stylist will also know what to do... if you want no mistakes, but it will cost more.

Good luck

If your hair is damaged I would advise you not to use any permanent dyes. Especially if your hair is already relaxed. However, if you must I sugges HiRez dyes from Soft Sheen Carson the color is made to more vibrant than average dyes . I suggest Scarlet Splash, and Red Quake. These will complement dark skin tones. http://www.softsheen-carson.com/?c=18%26amp;ca...

I know you admire Keyshia Cole's color but also remember she is light skin and that color might not suit you. Go for something a little warmer.
