How to make my hair red?

I have dark skin, and dark brown hair, but I would love to have red hair, is there any shade in particular that you think would look best on me?

ps: I don't want like bright red hair, I want a brownish red, but with more red than brown.

pss: This would be a color that you could get from a box in a local wallgreens and CVS, My parents will probably not let me do it with a profecional just yet.

Go for a dark auburn. I would still suggest that you have it proffesionaly done though. If your parents think it's better to do it at home... they're crazy. I've seen some total disasters. Plus... if your hair is darker than the color that you're trying to dye it, it may be difficult to get the color that you want.

If you have a Sally's Beauty supply around go and gget Sunset glow Henna. I have slight lighter hair that you, but that what I used to use. Because of how the Henna works everyone thought it was my natural hair color. But be sure to keep it off your skin, this is the same stuff they make Henna tattoos out of. If you do et it on your skin it fades in a few days.

Loreal Feria has a pretty Bright auburn brown. But i must warn you that red fades out very fast. So you will probably end up with brown hair or an orange color.
