Red hair/brassiness/fried disaster?

Okay. My natural hair color is medium brown with a couple of natural gold highlights. I recently dyed my hair dark brown and mahogany several times but never got a good result. So, I stripped my hair with ColorZap yesterday and put a medium brown demi color over it hoping to return to my virgin color but now it is ronald mcdonald red in certain areas including my bangs, and just generally looks raw and fried. Can a salon fix this? It doesn't look grotesque, but it sure doesn't look nice.

The stripping is what dried your hair. A salon can color it. If you cannot afford this, you need to buy a medium ash brown. Ash means it has a hint of a green tint in it. This is what color you need to contrast the red tint. Believe me though your hair won't look green. If your hair is dry you need to use some really high quality moisterizing hair creme alot. Like if it says leave on 1 hour, use tons and wrap up your hair and sleep with it on.

Well I had a really bad dye job a few months ago and needed my hair stripped. Needless to say I have had it professional dyed twice and recently to my natural color. But yes, a salon can definetly fix this, just make sure you go to a reputable salon. Be sure to use a good moisturizing conditioner. I hope this helps a little bit.

Oh hun I am SO sorry. This has happend to me before, and yes, the only place that's going to be able to fix it is a salon. It's called a color correction and it's going to set you back $100+ . They'll probably do a deep condition before and after they do it, and you might want to pick up a REALLY good conditioner. Also, for a while you'll want to avoid over processing your hair with heat styling ( or use a really good protectant ), avoid pulling it back in tight pony tails, or pulling it back while wet, don't brush it really hard and condition condition condition to avoid breaking your hair off.

Ugh..Good luck!

Ok, to start - next time use SalonCare Color Corrector that you get at Sally's. It's stripped black permanent color (one time it was box dye, this time it was professional Redken dye) off my hair and left it the original natural color AND the bleach blonde highlights underneath! (I did it just last night)

A salon can fix it, though try picking up that Color Corrector I mentioned above first. It's only 12.99 at Sally's. Mix it with an equal amount of shampoo and leave it in your hair for no more than 15 minutes, then rinse out, condition, THEN go to the salon for the pro color. Just so you know, that ColorCorrector DOES NOT contain bleach and it doesn't ruin your hair at all. It's much cheaper than going to a salon and paying an easy $150 to have an entire corrective color service done.

A salon may be able to fix it. Ask the stylist if they can, what experience they have fixing these kinds of mistakes, and how much its going to cost. If it costs too much, most stylist can recommend something that can help.

You should book a consultation with a good colorist. Let them see the condition of the hair and talk to you about expectations. Professionally I always turn to Kerastase Forceintense treatments to help in such a serious situation as this. It is a product than can be colored over immediately with great results. Remember that all color needs to be maintained. Even after the colorist sorts you out, it will have to be kept on. Best of luck.
