Dying naturally red hair brown?

I've heard naturally red hair is difficult to dye..if this is true...do you think naturally auburn red hair will 'take' brown hair dye? Why/whynot?

If you know the answer please share your info! If your just going to recommend going to a professional or not dying it at all then go lecture someone else, because I don't care what you have to say.

i had a friend once who did that. The color does tend to fade out more easily and quickly, so you'll probably want to redo it 2 weeks after it is first dyed. If your hair is really red, then i'm guessing your eyebrows are blonde. if that's the case, having brown hair will look a little odd.

Offering someone to go to a professional is not a lecture, it's good advice. Most people screw up their hair because they don't see someone who actually knows what they're doing.

oh hun.. PLEASE don't dye ur hair brown.. auburn/red hair is sooo fabulous and pretty and I'm green w/jealousy, lol!! I know you didn't wanna hear that but if you really wanna dye ur hair then there is this brand that is called, I think, foolproof or failproof, 100% color by garnier? Or try Feria brand.. they have very pretty colors and it always looks good. Make sure you don't choose an ash toned color, they always have a greenish tint and will do that to your hair...and remember that choose something a shade lighter than what you really want because it can come out too dark. Good luck!!

If your hair is red, why would you want to dye it? My grandmother had red hair, and some of my cousins have red hair. I was jealous. I love naturally red hair.

I don't care if you don't care what I have to say, I'm gonna say it anyway. Red/Auburn hair is beautiful, don't change it. You have a great gift.
